![]() ![]() Do you have any recommendations for a compact/short shotgun mic for around a 100 bucks? Is that even a meaningful price point? As always spending more money will obviously get you a better mic, but where is point of diminishing returns for microphones in this category. ![]() ![]() Wondering if people have experienced any real world damages from this? As I am not an audio guy, I imagine I will eventually forget once and would like to know how high the odds are of damaging my equipment this way. I know it's best practice to switch off phantom power before removing the microphone. I read on some other devices that the power provided is roughly 1 W (960mW to be precise) but couldn't find any confirmation if that is a standard that applies on the Blackmagic. Does the phantom power on the mini-xlr affect battery life? I imagine the amount of power drawn is tiny, but would still like to know. Is there any advantage in terms of sound quality in using the mini-XLR over the 3.5mm? Obviously the 3.5mm does not provide power and XLR is the superior connector, so it has to be an active microphone rather than a passive one powered by phantom power on the mini-xlr, but I am wondering in terms of pure audio quality. Read through quite a few threads on this topic but had a few questions I was hoping perhaps people here could answer. ![]()
